Are you qualified to attend an advanced retreat with Embodied Intimacy?

This is for you if you have attended an Embodied Intimacy Intensive, several of our workshops, or have immersed yourself in contexts where you have learned the basics of self-regulation and have an understanding of your nervous system and how to use breath, sound, movement and touch to come back into connection and aliveness through co-regulation.

This Advanced workshop is designed for you build on those already established and developed skills and to dive even deeper into the magic of healing and it’s erotic expression of playfulness, life force and creativity.

You will not be required to do anything. Everything is an invitation to consider; all activities are optional. Your full consent is the only requirement for your interactions with others.

About the Embodied Intimacy experience:

Embodied Intimacy is created to address the fact that very few of us have any formal, or conscious, education in relating, intimacy and sexuality. We live in a word that teaches us how to read, write, calculate and solve logical problems. However, we are not taught how to live and love in a ways that fits the shape of our heart and bigness of our souls.

Embodied Intimacy asks you to show up and reveal yourself authentically. To take risks and vulnerably let others see you as you are. To hold others in a loving non-judgmental awareness as their mirror. The felt and shared truth of each moment has the potential to set us free by allowing ourselves to be with all that we are. This embodied congruence, authenticity and vulnerability has the power to shave off the dead callus of our defended personality and open us to a more direct experience of of who we are. More naked and available we can respond to life as the mystery it is.

This retreat is an experiential and pragmatic education of intimacy and will increase your emotional intelligence. You will gain trust in your innate authentic ability to live and love in the ways only you can.

Trauma2Trust - Advanced training with David Cates & Buster Radvik

This is an advanced intensive for group facilitators, practitioners, those on the path of healing trauma, and anyone working to expand the edges of growth and evolution in love.

Often trauma is regarded as a problem to fix, an obstacle to relationship, or wounds that make us feel damaged and unloveable.

We would like to offer a new perspective – that trauma is an incredible opportunity. Trauma is an invitation into more realness and depth. One that has the potential to touch everyone, and bring all those in contact with it into deeper intimacy and healing.

Trauma can only do this – become a gift instead of a problem – when we are able to create a container strong enough to fully hold and integrate it.

Because trauma is stored, and healed, in the body, it’s not enough to talk about it, or do emotional processes around it. To really get to the core of it, we must become vulnerable again, in a place deeper than words, and move into pure embodied experience. We must reveal ourselves fully to other human beings, and co-create new patterns of relating.

This will only happen in a container that feels absolutely safe. Sometimes that safe container is with a lover or a trusted therapist. But we’re finding that astonishing transformation and profound healing can also happen – on a greater order of magnitude – when our trauma is mirrored in a group.

One person's trauma has the potential to heal an entire room.

Often, the trauma that has seemed so horrifyingly personal reveals collective wounds. In small and large ways, we’re all impacted by the shadows of sexual violence, secrecy, victimhood, perpetration, sexual hunger and shame. Parts of us are terrified of the opposite gender. Parts are locked in ancient patterns of anger, fear, denial, flight, fight, freeze, submission.

When we go into the wordless space together, co-regulating and keeping ourselves safe, we can reveal and release these traumas. Together.

Together we can land in a new embodied experience, increasingly free from those triggers, and practice bringing all of ourselves safely to love.

Want to learn how this can happen?

Want to learn how you can help to make this happen for others too?

Come join us!

In this workshop you will:
• Gain tools to self- and co-regulate your own nervous system in triggered situations.
• Develop confidence in recognizing when triggers are beginning to happen – before they actually erupt.
• Develop skills to create a somatically safe field for your relationship, client or group work to deepen into.
• Learn practices and exercises that can down-regulate an entire group.
• Understand an accessible psychological theory of Trauma and why the body is so important on the path to healing.
• Identify the common strategies used to cope with trauma and typical things that happen when we come to the edge of trigger.
• Develop an accessible and practical understanding of what happens in the brain during a traumatic (re)activation.
• Listen to the body and be able to name what is happening in real-time.
• Practice reading body language in an individual.
• Practice reading an entire room, noticing when people are being driven by triggers – freezing and not breathing, agitated, disassociated and checking out.
• Know how to slow things down when the trigger wants to speed things up.
• Identify somatic and verbal tools to reconnect with the body, self, and others when a trigger creates isolation.
• Discover why it’s essential to bring much more love and presence to everything when working with Trauma.

❂ FAQ ❂

What kind of workshop is this?
This workshop is practical and highly experiential. Participants will get the chance to observe and practice skills needed to work with their own trauma, to practice working one-on-one and with trauma in group settings.

Who should attend?
• Personal:
This course is ideal for anyone working with their own trauma, and for those who want to develop skills and understanding being in relationship with someone who is experiencing trauma.

• Professional:
This course is also designed for professionals who want to develop and practice their skills to help clients with a history of trauma. These skills are useful for one-on-one sessions, as well as in group work. It is also an excellent recap for advanced level practitioners who would like to review and deepen their understanding of this material.

Do I need to be a professional to attend?
No, if fact anyone and everyone dealing with personal trauma or interacting with others who have experienced trauma need these skills.

What is Trauma?
• Relational perspective: We are traumatized when we are alone with too much pain to integrate. As a result, on one hand, we go on with life dissociated from what happened. Yet on the other hand, we are at war with the parts of us that hold the trauma. The result is that we are controlled and controlling.

• Neurobiological perspective: When the brain is emotionally overwhelmed and hijacked by fear and terror it can't function as the hub of awareness from where we can be present and self aware. So, later when we are situationally triggered into our experience we are unable to hold the trauma for what it is, a memory from the past that has yet to be fully integrated in the present.

• Instinctual perspective: When the active defenses of fight or flee are not enough for the threat, the danger evokes the passive defense of submission. As a result we live our life from a sense of shame, worthlessness, and depression. Acting from a victim identity unable to know or set boundaries expecting the worst from life.

In this workshop we are going to strengthen our ability to respond to our own or others traumatic activations from a place of awareness and presence rather than an unconscious reaction.
